Thorncombe Parish is unique in having its own team of First Responders – set up because it can take up to 30 minutes for an ambulance to reach us. The team is made up of volunteers who have been extensively trained in First Aid and have special instructions in the use of a defibrillator – in the case of cardiac arrest – and oxygen to use as a therapy in the case of breathing difficulties and during advanced resuscitation.
In the case of an emergency you MUST ring 999 and the Ambulance Control will call out the responder on duty who will be with you within a few minutes. Our aim is to offer help and support and to maintain the situation until the ambulance arrives. For a leaflet or for further information please e-mail. Volunteers are
always welcome.
