The County Highways Department has a duty to maintain the roads in the parish, but it is hard for them to examine them all regularly. The parish council highways representative has developed a good working relationship with the County in order that they are kept aware of local problems such as potholes, broken drains etc.

If you see a problem with the roads you can report it to the representative on the Parish Council or :-

Talk to Clarence!
Clarence is the code name for the county system for recording complaints about the state of the roads locally. If you see a new pothole or some other problem with any of the roads in the parish you can report this directly to CLARENCE. Use Freephone 0800 23 23 23, or normal payphone number
01258 458140.
If you have e-mail you can send reports to clarence@dorsetcc.gov.uk. Use of this system should result in a better response from the local road mending unit which could make life easier for every road user.
